Processing Receipts as PDF not JPG

Feature Request

Currently receipts are exported as JPGs.

The benefit of using PDFs instead would be

  • you could standardize on PDFs for everything instead of supporting jpg&pdf

  • pdf can be full text searchable for further user processing

  • you could even embed the extracted receipts metadata into the pdf for user document search

  • pdf viewer components already exist and can be reused so users get zoom/paging etc

  • accountants expect PDF receipts more then JPG receipts

  • keeping receipts as PDF is standard so users don’t get surprised and disappointed that Spark uses JPGs

    I've also pretty much stopped using SR for scanning which means that I use it much less unfortunately. Can't even understand why it was designed to use JPG

    Definitely the same need. Currently, I have to scan using an external app just due to this limitation, because JPG are not suitable for accountance (PDF are)

    Did you encounter this with the reporting feature or in the document viewer?

    Some PDFs are “protected” in a way that prevents selecting text, or the text is scrambled / reversed even if selectable.

    The Reports feature allows downloading originals by selecting either CSV or XLSX format. The PDF report embeds receipts as images in the PDF.
